#30yearsin30days Day 8 “Your wife’s in labor,” friends said to me, at the end of my Half Dome Hike “It can’t be,” I replied, “There’s just no way! For Robertsons are fashionably late.” I had no fear, there’s a clinic here at Yosemite National Park. I didn’t know that the clinic was for minor emergencies and the like “My wife’s in labor” I yelled through the door, “It’s coming...and she cannot wait” “Not here!” the nurse replied ... and now I had fear at Yosemite National Park. “If not here, then where?” I asked the nurse, as my wife now groaned at my side. It’s a car ride out or we use a medevac, but you must quickly decide We didn’t have the money for a helicopter ride from Yosemite National Park! So we headed for home with three kids and our gear. It was going to be a very fast ride. Well, we made it back and Marian was born! High Five! She came to reside In our home near the Bay and as far as can be from Yosemite National Park! What a joy, what a thrill that we have this pretty girl. We’re proud of her; that cannot be denied. She’s had to face some challenges and overcome them all which enhances her character inside She has taught us many lessons along the way since we left Yosemite National Park Her “hands-on” way of learning has changed the way I teach and sometimes I must go against the tide She faced head-on an armed robber and a driver who ploughed into her side. And she graduated as a CMA a long way from Yosemite National Park. So today is your day – the eighth year since our vow – so follow me and I will be your guide We begin today at Church, then stop at Auntie Anne’s, then it’s the A’s with you by our side It’s not at Yosemite, but at the O.co – a professional baseball park. Then from there we’ll challenge you to overcome a hill that we don’t think you have ever tried And friends will cheer you on as they see you illustrate that you so often swim against the tide You are unique. That’s what we love. Continue hitting life out of the park!
