36 “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the Churches “. Rev.2: 7 Perfection of Revelation It is written “Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love --” Rev.2:4. Here ‘first love’ indicates a fallen condition and a need for repentance. We have all fallen from our ‘first love’. But He is ‘perfect’ and will pardon sins and wrongs, but He needs complete commitment - that means perfect obedience - if we are to be fully repentant. The church must also maintain perfection in a perfect way - like Him. He wants perfect love because He also gives perfect love and He Himself is perfect love. The church must correct its wrongs, and all its actions which are against the Lord. Cp. Rev. 2:5. The Lord does not want, and will not tolerate any wrong, however small, that is deficient in His church bride. So He wants His bride to repent, and, if not, she will forfeit her position. Here candles give light to the world. Without light there is no-one to witness and to show Jesus Christ as the light. God is light. cp. 1 Jn.1:5; Jn.12:6; 8:12 and Matt.5:14-16; Jn.3:21. The Church has to walk in the way of His will, in this world of light.cp.Eph.5:8; 1 Thess.5:5. He was also perfect in encouragement and consolation.cp.Rev.2:9-10. He wants perfection in His holy doctrine, because He did not want or tolerate false doctrine in His church bride. cp.Rev.2:14-15.
