37% of the worlds poor seem to live in India.(todays news). To improve the quality of life and facilitate research in many fronts to ensure a meaningful life for our citizens CSIR was created in the regime of Jawaharlal Nehru. What has happened then and after. Nothing has changed in the quality of life of our people, but the scientists of CSIR with fat emoluments and fatter pensions invariably faked research papers and not one internationally recognizable achievement to their credit, let alone a Noble prize. This is vindicated by a news item in todays news paper in which scientists of Institute of Microbial technology( a CSIR wing), used faked data in seven papers, published in the journals and have been retracted.(Journal of petroleum and environmental bio technology). Why not the funding of the CSIR projects should be result oriented.? Why should these wasteful funds not be diverted to facilitate basic needs of the poor.
