3th YPSARION PATH TRAIL RUNNING 28 SEPTEMBER 2014 The ENVIROMENTAL MOVEMENT of THASSOS & THE CULTURAL CLUB “XATZIGIORGIS” with local runners inviting you in THASSOS Island on Sunday 28 September 2014 the 3st trail running race with the name YPSARION PATH. RACE FEATURES: The route have start and finish the cultural center of Theologos. As limit time set the 7 hours. It starts at 9.00 in the morning, direction to “Xalatsuka” where path crosses area of outstanding natural beauty, with exclusive forest coverage of juniper. This is designated as a Wildlife Refuge and protected area “Natura”. Goes through the crest “Pr. Ilia- Psario” with unique view and hanging out with Itamos, (Taxus Baccata), rare yperaionovian trees which are natural monument. After reaches the top of Ypsarion mount 1204m. Where it follows the path that leads to the shelter of the Mountaineering Association of Thassos. Then descend through the wooded path to Potamia. Bellow about 6km. passable dirt road to reach the 3 sources. From there, through the historical pathway “Kagelia” that previously connected the Theologos village with Potamia village, begins the last uphill that comes to end of the country church PROFITIS ILIAS. The last kilometer before the finish line is a combination of sloping path and dirt road. The distance is about 28km. on the mountain slopes, trails and dirt roads, with 1506m. positive elevation. It should be noted particularly the increased difficulty of the route that requires good physical shape and a great experience in mountain races. PARTICIPATION COST: The participation cost is 10€ and included, right to participate in the race, feed, support, and souvenirs. RIGHT OF PARTICIPATION: In race can participate anyone over 18 years. The categories are MEN: 19-39, 40+, 50+, and WOMEN. For the safe conduct of the race the maximum number of entries that will receive the event will be 100 athletes.
