4:00 AM...AgDay this morning...chucklin here...the lady is pregnant and due any day. She and the weather guy are at the weather map. She says, I hear that we are in for a polar vortex next week. My ears perk up, open one eye and look at the map. It shows line dipping into the USA long about E ND, E SD, E NE, down over MO, down to TN then curving on back up to the NE coast. Little line of showers trotting W->E across the N side of the Great Lakes. A second line comes dropping out of W Canada over WA, OR, N Cali to bump into the back of line #1...forming a teepee with AZ, NM, NV, W TX. Teepee area is H.O.T. The weather man scoffs and chuckles at the news lady, Yeah, polar vortex. That term has been in the books forever and everybody thinks it is some new term. Hes teasing her, she laughs and indicates she dont care how long that term has been around. Shes just glad the cool air is coming to keep her pregnant little body cooled off! And sure nuff...the local NBC guy says that next week our highs are going to be in the upper 70s once we get past Saturdays heat. Following all this human chatter, listening to the local folklore about an early winter cuz of the signs of the animals, grasses, bugs...hum...might be signs of summer and fall being cooler than normal. I know for me, it sure has been a relief to not have that searing over 100F stuff for a string of weeks, months. Been like a vacation really.
