4 Judges travel to 8 Communities in 5 Days, looking for 1 Social Justice Premier? Today A Poor People’s Inquiry launches community hearings. People who receive social assistance and their allies will submit evidence and testify to the question “Have the changes Premier Wynne made to social assistance ‘put food in the budget’? Below is a list of hearings that are scheduled for the next week. More are being scheduled and will continue into January and we will update you as dates and locations are confirmed. Please attend a hearing in your community and promote it to other people in your community who receive social assistance or work to support and advocate with people who are poor. We are going to send out a brief bulletin, beginning tomorrow morning, with highlights from the hearings. Members of the steering committee of Put Food in the Budget campaign will travel to all of these hearings either to ‘preside’ as members of the community panel – or to observe and listen. We will be travelling to some communities in Melissa’s ‘social justice van’, or by train. Melissas Social Justice Van! We need donations of money to fuel the social justice van.
