Dont bore people with things they already know. Formulas, like putting two things together to suggest meaning...and other surrealist formulas, are so overdone and passe 3. In shaping your specific inspiration, Its very important to consider what your metaphor is. Symbols are too simple. Illustrators paint iconic symbols all the time. But metaphor is a fuller, richer, more robust characteristic. Learn what metaphor is and think metaphorically. 4. Put a note on your easel which reads, amaze myself.....a reminder that when you are creating your metaphors, ironies, and dramas, you must amaze yourself...not others...but you. A reminder that pushes further and harder than being content with what you can do easily....thats another key to becoming really good in craft and idea.
