4 years ago, in 2010, we had no idea he would become sick in just a couple of months and spent the beginning of the new year in the hospital. Starting a very long journey that were still on! My mom had just had cardiac arrest and was still in the hospital. 3 years ago, in 2011, we were preparing for his third kidney surgery that year. They had found there was something wrong with his GOOD kidney. After his kidney surgery, hed have a 1.5 - 2 month long UTI that nobody could figure out what to do about... three courses of antibiotics and it finally went away after everyone gave up on us. Around this time, he also was in-patient for a 48 hour EEG for seizures and was having testing for the ataxia (that had just started t show itself in September). It was a VERY stressful time. It was the worst year of our lives. 2 years ago, in 2013, he was still in Early Intervention, and he was being tested to see if he would qualify for the special ed preschool program (he did and hes still in it). We were in beginning of genetic testing (a couple of months in). 1 year ago, in 2014, we were in the middle of genetic testing and very worried... so many negative tests and still no answers. Also, I look back to 1 year ago... one single year... and he was still talking in a lot of baby talk. His words werent clear and his vocabulary was limited and he did NOT hold many back and forth convos. Youd have to work hard to get him to pay attention to much of anything. NOW look at him! He knows all about GPS satellites, constellations, modern art... you name it! He knows so many words and holds conversations! Hes AMAZING!
