40 Questions People are Afraid to Ask That I Answered 1. If today were the last day of your life, would you want to do what you are about to do today? a. Honestly, if my last day ended with me waking up, getting ready and doing my job, I feel like I would change only a few things. I’d let some people know how I felt towards them and that’s about it. So no I would not do what I am going to do today not fully. 2. What worries you the most about the future? a. That I will spend it alone. That worries me, because I constantly feel like I could be better than I am now. And that feeling is probably why I feel alone all the time. 3. Are you holding on to something you need to let go of? a. No, because letting go means there is no more business to take care of. And as far as I’m concerned I am not holding on to anything. I just have some unfinished business I need to attend to. 4. If you had a friend that spoke to you in the same way that you speak to yourself, how long would you allow that person to be friends with you? a. As long as they wanted to. I honestly feel like I am my own biggest cheerleader. Do I have worries and doubt? Yes, because I am human, but I love myself. I love myself more than anyone else does. So if they loved me and talked to me like I do then we would be great friends. 5. What’s the difference between living and existing? a. Living is the act of doing something, while existing the act of being somewhere. In order to live you have to participate. In order to exist you just have to show up. 6. If we learn from our mistakes, why are we so afraid to make mistakes? a. I think people are afraid of the unknown. And making a mistake means you have to learn. And learning is like a map. So basically making a mistake means you have wondered into uncharted territory and that is scary because now you have no guidelines and now you are in the unknown. 7. What impact do you want to leave on the world? a. I want people to look at the life I lived and say, “Devin was eccentric. He was shameless. He loved himself. He loved others. Devin was a good person and even though there can never be another Devin; we hope there is.” 8. Is it out of reach? Or have you just not stretched yourself far enough? a. You just haven’t stretched far enough. I don’t believe in quitting. And saying it’s out of reach means giving up. I never have been a quitter. I do not support quitting. This world to me is win or lose. Either way I didn’t quit. 9. In the haste of our everyday lives, what are we missing? a. Depends on the day, some days nothing, other days you missed a chance to change your life or the life of someone around you. 10. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do? a. Because in the average person’s life we have too many responsibilities to do things for ourselves. Whether you like it or not everyone is responsible for taking care of someone else. And if you don’t take care of someone else that’s because you’re the one getting taken care of or you won the lottery and can afford to do your own thing. 11. If you looked into the heart of your enemy, what do you think you would find that is different from what is in your own heart? a. My enemy has the luxury of being the villain 9 times out of 10. They are used to being the bad guy. I get the fortune of being the hero 9 times out of 10. I am used to being the good guy. The ironic twist of fate is that the 1 time out of 10 that they are good guy they get recognized because it’s out of character it looks amazing on them. While the 1 time out of 10 that I’m the bad guy it looks horrible on me, because it’s so out of character. 12. Life is too short to tolerate ______? a. Waiting. It’s wasteful. Why wait? Unless it’s purposeful. So my answer is unpurposeful waiting. Just do it already. 13. If you haven’t achieved it yet, what do you have to lose? a. Everything you have been setting in place if you go about it the wrong way. But that’s the risk. And as we all know no risk then no reward. So go for it in the best way you can think about it. 14. How do you know when it’s time to continue holding on or time to let go? a. Back the business thing. If it’s unfinished business then hold on. When the business is over let go. Just never let holding on become a detriment. 15. Why do you matter? a. Without me then some people would never had met a decent human being. Not to be arrogant, but I know I’m a good person. 16. How many friends would you trust with your life? a. None. Love all my friend to death, but I have had to many ‘Best Friends’ sell me out for way less than my life so I will keep my life in my own hands. 17. Are you happy with yourself? a. Yes, I can honestly say I love the person I am. 18. What is the one fear that you know is holding you back? a. Being alone. I am so afraid of being alone that I hold on to people who are sometimes not good for me. 19. What do you do with the majority of your money? a. Spend it on others. 20. Based on your current daily actions and routines, where would you suspect to be in five years? a. I am honestly not sure. This is the first question I feel like has several extensive answers. I am not sure. 21. Would you rather your child be less attractive and extremely intelligent or extremely attractive and less intelligent? a. It doesn’t matter to me as long as they are healthy. 22. What have you done that you are not proud of? a. I lived my life for too long living for someone else. That is my worst mistake it took me 19 years to start living as myself. I am not ashamed of that though. But it seems like the answer that was most fitting. 23. Other than money, what else have you gained from current job? a. So much, I love what I do. I gained friends. I learned respect. I learned tolerance. And a very wise woman has taught me that ‘you can do anything for a day.’ Plus I get to spend 40+ hours a week making a difference in so many lives. I love my job. 24. What do you pretend to understand that you sometimes don’t? a. People. I can’t understand why some are so ignorant. I can’t understand why some are so selfish. 25. What is the number one change you need to make in the next twelve months? a. I need to find a way to love myself and gain the respect of my family and friends. There are so many unanswered questions and comments that if I could deal with that I could make serious movements for a better life. 26. When did you not speak up when you should have? a. I used to all the time. But I learned a little lesson. You can tell someone you love them even if they don’t say the love you back. 27. What are you procrastinating on right at this moment? a. That number one change I was talking about in #25. 28. In what way are you your own worst enemy? a. I let myself get mistreated and used. I underestimate myself. I have a bad habit of not jumping the gun when I should have. I am a little too precise and a little to calculating. 29. What do you wish you didn’t know? a. How much I hurt people’s feelings when I leave them. Because it hurts me too. And knowing that they cared and I still had to leave puts salt in the wound. 30. What have you given up on? a. Nothing. Like I said I never quit. I am always trying something new to get what I want. 31. What big lesson could people learn from your life? a. It’s possible to both be the star of your own show and still be a character in some else’s. In other words you can do your own thing and still be impactful and loving to others. 32. What mistakes do you make over and over again? a. I over think things. Instead of the end product I am always wondering about what I did to get there. 33. What do you do when you love someone who doesn’t love you back? a. Do what you have to. People confuse love as a feeling when in reality it’s an action. Love is something you do. I love you. Love is a verb. The feelings that come with that love come from the successes, trials, errors, and failures of the love itself. 34. What has been draining your happiness? a. Myself. We cause our own problems. It’s as simple as that. 35. What’s the number one thing you intend to accomplish before you die? a. I want to be the best version of myself that I can be. 36. What is the little voice inside your head been saying lately? a. Talk. Quit pushing yourself to do this. It will fall into place eventually. Don’t leave. 37. What is worse than death? a. Heartbreak. A pain that can’t be buffered. 38. How short would your life have to be before you would start living differently today? a. I am not sure really. I need to make changes so I would say pretty short. Less than 3 years. 39. What do you do when other people don’t like you? a. Shrug my shoulders and move on. Not everyone is going to like you. 40. What’s one easy way to waste a life? a. Waiting. It the most dangerous risk you can take.
