45 years ago today my dad collapsed and died from a massive heart attack. He was only 56. It was 4 days before Christmas and 3 months before my 21st birthday. They say time heals all wounds and, to a certain extent, they are right, but I still miss his humour, his never-failing collection of wise and witty sayings, his sage advice and his love. What he taught me has been the guide for the rest of my life and for that I will be forever grateful. Sadly, his death was just 6 months before I met the wonderful girl who was to become my life partner, soul mate and mother of my wonderful children. If I have any regret it is that he never met them and his gorgeous grandchildren. RIP, dad. Long gone, but never forgotten.
