Hi Shiny Friends, Sorry for the lack of an update after my last - TopicsExpress

Hi Shiny Friends, Sorry for the lack of an update after my last one. Ill get the other stuff shortly, including the critical McSteamy report of course, but first things first. Christy is doing really well! Her recovery is going so much better than her past surgeries. Shes pink and warm and were all so very happy with where she is. Naturally things werent completely smooth. Wed be beyond shocked it they were. Christy will write about her experiences in a little bit, but here is a quick summary. Christy woke up from her surgery and was in a lot of pain. She was also shaking a lot from the anesthetic, as she always does. Nurse after nurse apparently said Ive never seen that reaction before. Of course, right? Now me and Giselle and Carmen had no idea how she was doing in recovery as we were in the waiting room. Our biggest concern was that Christy would wake up and be stuck not knowing how the operation went and whether the pump was functional or not. That was her biggest fear. By the time I was finally able to see her, she had been awake for a couple hours and not knowing the results. The nurses were not able (or allowed) to tell her. OMG I cannot imagine. When I finally saw her and told her that everything went great, she immediately just melted and looked infinitely better. She said it was like 80 pounds was lifted off her. Honestly, it was more like 500 pounds. Christy was finally moved to room and is working hard to recover so she can get home to her little boys. Fisher and Sawyer are doing good at home. They both miss their Mommy a lot but with the help of my sister and my parents who are staying at our home this week, they are being well taken care of. Thanks family! Fisher calls us at the hospital in the morning before school, after he gets home from school, and before bed. It is so wonderful to hear our little Fisher on the phone telling us how he is doing. He has spoken to Christy on the phone a couple times and it is just awesome (for both of them). When I spoke to Fisher on the phone yesterday afternoon when Christy was still sleeping in recovery, he said to make sure Mommy calls him when she gets up, but not between 4:30pm and 6:30pm because he has a play date with Liam. Ok Fisher, thanks for scheduling us in! Thanks to Kathy, Maria, and Lisa for scheduling play dates for Fisher this week an keeping him well occupied. Christy had a good night. She is still quite weak and is trying to manage the pain & nausea, but is doing well. Dr Karanicolas came and saw Christy this morning. He reiterated that everything went very well during the surgery, that the cancer had not spread at all, that the pump was successfully installed, and that their initial testing showed that the test dye was delivered to her liver and stayed in her liver. This is all fantastic news. Because of the blood flow to her liver was more complex than others, the test dye did not reach all parts of her liver yet, but they will retest soon and fully expect the blood flow to adapt and cover everything. The pump needed to be installed a little deeper that expected, so they give here a little blue tattoo dot on her tummy to indicate where the pump input is. We think she should get it made into a tiny flower or a butterfly! Oh yes, the McSteamy report. Yes there is a McSteamy or three here. Theyre not so bad looking. They probably work out too. LOL. One in particular has been so great helping Christy. He came in this morning and said remember me? After some thought, Christy eventually said Yes I do! From post-op. Thanks for helping me. I remember your voice. At which point Carmen said His voice?? Oh sure, his voice. Yeah, sure. Carmen things he must get up at 4am to lift weights and buff up before coming into the hospital. Yeah I bet he does :-) -- McVij
