4XI - Game report v Balwyn Falcons - 6/161 - Javed - 72*, Nath 20, Tys, 17* Balwayn - 10/130 - Sri 2/23, Adi 2/6, Tys 2/24 After winning the toss and batting in near ideal conditions (pitch waste its best early, however the outfield was slow and difficult to score boundaries) Javed and Nath got the team off to the perfect start of 61 off 19 overs, this great platform eventually saw us post 161 on a slow pitch with an even slower outfield where boundaries were extremely hard to come by. Javed was unbeaten on 72 anchoring the innings, fighting severe cramp, Jave battled through to ensure we posted a competitive total and built multiple partnerships through the innings. Anthony Rosta was promoted to 6 to try and lift the scoring rate and was doing so, blazing fours until he top edged a shot into his eye. Rosta immediately retired hurt as his face swelled in front those watching to roughly the size of a golf ball, then a cricket ball, Thanks to Darren James for transporting Rosta to and from Box Hill hospital - where Rosta was given a (relatively) good diagnosis of no serious damage - just some serious swelling! A man down the Falcons fought their way to 161. Some dropped catches saw Balwyn reach 1/68 before Adi Berry grabbed the main the danger on drinks. Adi, Wilko, Sri, Tyson and Tolla all then put the breaks on Balwyn and tied down their batsman, forcing loose shots through the relentless pressure, well supported in the field by all players (including Rosta who returned unable to see out of one eye and proceeded to take a solid catch to dismiss the Balwyn captain) Some great efforts, notably Javed who batted brilliantly and Rosta whose toughness was a lesson to all as to what is required to win games of cricket. Well done to all 12 who played - one of the most complete games of cricket I have seen a 4XI side play and very pleasing to see us beginning to come together. Liam Patrick 4XI Captain
