4th Annual Presque Isle Beach Brawl 4th Annual Presque Isle Beach Brawl Double Elimination Wrestling Takedown Tournament, Rain or Shine Saturday, July 27th, 2013 during Discover Presque Isle Days **Tournament will take place at a new location on Beach 9** Presque Isle State Park, Erie, Pa On-Site Registration $20 (cash only) from 9am – 11am Rules Clinic: 11:00 (all wrestlers are encouraged to attend) Wrestling begins at 11:30am Open to wrestlers and non-wrestlers, males and females 1st thru 3rd place will receive awards Divisions & Weight Classes: 8 & under…………………….weight classes determined the day of event 9 & 10………………………….light weight, middle weight & heavy weight 11 & 12………………………..light weight, middle weight & heavy weight 13 – 15…………………………light weight, middle weight & heavy weight 16 - 18………………………….light weight, middle weight & heavy weight 19 & older…………………….light weight & heavy weight Masters (35+)……………….light weight & heavy weight **PAIRINGS WILL BE COMPLETED ON THE DAY OF EVENT WITH WEIGHT BREAKDOWNS DEPENDENT UPON ENTRANTS Beach 9 is towards the end of Presque Isle and traffic will be very heavy the morning of event. We suggest arriving early. We will not accept late registrations this year. Families are encouraged to bring picnic foods and enjoy Presque Isle State Park. discoverpi Tournament Rules Anyone (wrestlers, non-wrestlers, male & female) may compete in this tournament however participants are reminded that this is not a mixed martial arts tournament. A 20 foot diameter circle will be laid out on the sand. Each bout will consist of one, three minute period. The first wrestler to score two points wins the match. IF neither wrestler has two points at the end of the three minutes then the wrestler with the most points will win. If the wrestlers are tied at the end of the three minutes then the wrestler who scored the first point will be declared the winner. If there is no score after three minutes then the winner will be determined by referee’s decision. Referee decisions can’t be questioned. There will be no timeouts or stoppage except by the referee. There will be no ground wrestling. If the referee stops the match then both wrestlers will resume the match from the neutral position. Points are awarded as follows: Pushout/throwout – 1 point Takedown – 1 point Fall – 2 points Penalty – 1 point Bathing suits or board shorts should be worn. No loose shirts or shoes. All wrestlers are required to sign a waiver releasing McDowell Wrestling Boosters, Presque Isle Partnership and Presque Isle State Park from any liability resulting from injuries to wrestlers competing in this tournament. Skin and fingernail checks will be performed the morning of the competition. A penalty point will be awarded for scratching, punching, kicking, pulling hair, throwing or kicking sand, biting and fleeing the completion area during a match. A second infraction for the same penalty will result in the wrestler’s disqualification. Any wrestler covering any part of his/her body with a slippery substance will be disqualified.
