Literally means “Seat (Throne) of the Timeless One (God)”. The Akal Takht was begun by the sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Gobind as a symbol for political sovereignty of Sikhs, and is one of the five seats of temporal physical religious authority of the Sikhs.
