5 Skincare tips about Oily Skin- Busted! Myth 1: Wearing sunscreen daily is too heavy for oily complexion. Truth: To prevent sun damage or to help avoid a blemish outbreak, protecting your skin with a sunscreen should be part of your daily skincare routine. If you have oily skin, try a lightweight formula, foundation or tinted moisturizer with an SPF built in. You could also opt for an oil-free moisturizer with SPF which will provide the hydration needed and also keep your skin from getting sticky. Myth 2: To prevent blemishes, completely strip away the oil from the skin. Truth: Completely stripping the skin of all its natural oils can play even more havoc with blemishes and spots. The skin will overcompensate for the lost oil by producing more which will clog pores and lead to pimples. Myth 3: Exfoliate regularly to ensure skin stays clear. Truth: Exfoliating excessively can strip the skin of essentials oils and spread bacteria. Instead of a daily scrub opt for a much gentler exfoliant to keep your skin in a good condition. Though scrubs help in removing the dead skin cells, they can be harmful if used every day. Myth 4: Dont use moisturizer on oily skin. Truth: Blemish-prone skin needs hydration too. In fact, drying out oily skin sends a signal to your body to produce even more oil; a nightmare for those who already suffer with problem skin. Myth 5: Oily skin does not age as easily as dry skin. Truth: Every skin will age after a said time, even prematurely if not taken good care of. The only reason people feel dry skin looks aged earlier is because you can see the lines more clearly since the skin is dry. In terms of oily skin, it will have those frown lines but because of the oil, they are less visible.
