5 am: Im hearing a sandpaper-ish noise, convinced I need therapy if Im dreaming of carpenters. 5:05 am: Some fumbling for the lamp later, realise its Ishaan, wheezing away to glory. 6:30 am: Pack first born off to school, then trudge to the hospital (everything feels so far away when youre living in the bush). 7:00 am: Weve an appointment at an emergency clinic, which strikes me as particularly ironic and Im snorting while the husband cant take my early morning humour. 7:40 am: The doctor has not surfaced and Ishaan has climbed on and off a dozen pieces of furniture. He doesnt look or act ill, and the nurses are glaring at me. Emergency is a hallowed word: it must not be abused. 8:00 am: Doctor finally meets us and tells us its a probable food allergy. Ishs wheezing has miraculously subsided but atleast he takes me seriously enough. Some anti-allergens and a nebuliser sitting later, three weary souls make the long trudge back home. 9 am to 5 pm: Got some address-change changes done, attempted to meet a deadline, got my daily gardening fix, and sat down with a nice warm cup of tea. Just beginning to think life is bliss. 5 pm: Rohan trips, chips his front tooth, cuts his lip, damages his ego, is wailing away about the piece missing in his PERMANENT tooth. 5:45 pm: Dentist appointment for tomorrow secured. Ro soothed, snuggled in front of tv. Second born happy, riding his car on the patio. Garden looking healthy and happy. Tea gone cold and discarded. All in a days work I know, but Lord, please let this day end now. #IHaveTwoBoysWhatsYourExcuse #IHopeMyClientSeesThisAndExtendsTheDeadline
