5 dariya news,srinagar Amid clash along IB, army says LoC in Kashmir ‘stable’ Tangmarg, January 03: (GNS) Amid deadly clash along International Border (IB) in Jammu, the armyon Saturday said the Line of Control in Kashmir valley is stable. According to GNS correspondent, while talking to reporters at Baba Reshi Shrine, the 15 Corps Commander, Lt. General Subrata Saha, said: “I had come here to pray…to seek blessing of Baba Reshi. In 20134, the (Baba) secured Kashmir people and army during 2014 despite flood and security challenges. There were big events. But he safely rescued us,” he said, adding, he prayed everyone’s safety. He said the Line of Control in Kashmir is stable and no ceasefire violation took place so far in year 2015. In reply to a question, he said by and large, the peaceful atmosphere was secured during recently concluded polls despite militant attacks. “Our mission is to maintain secure environment and that is why people came out to exercise their franchise in large numbers,” he said. The Corps Commander said in year 2014, 186 militants were neutralized out of which 100 were killed and 86 apprehended. On being asked about the Chattergam firing incident, he said: “there is a legal waiting…we have sent the file and there is a legal process.” Meanwhile, in one of the ‘major’ Sadhbhavana initiatives by Chinar Corps, a 20 KVA generator was provisioned and dedicated to the Baba Reshi Shrine by Lt Gen Subrata Saha on Saturday. Alongside the function, blankets, utility items, Sports kits and uniforms to the school children of nearby villages were also distributed, a defence spokesperson said. Baba Reshi Shrine also called the Baba Payam-ud-Din Ziarat near Tangmarg is a symbol of the rich heritage and traditions of Kashmir and one of the most revered Ziarats in the Valley. The Shrine is visited by lakhs of devotees across faiths. The spokesperson said: “Due to an overload on the existing electricity infrastructure, especially during the winter months, devotees visiting the Shrine and staff members faced considerable inconvenience. The Shrine authorities had approached the local Army Formation with a request for installation of a 20 KVA Generator at the Shrine. Accordingly, a 20 KVA generator was provisioned under operation Sadbhavna and dedicated to the Shrine.” The 20 KVA Generator set was inaugurated by Master Tanveer Ahmad lone of chunti Pathri village along with GOC 15 Corps. “On the occasion, the GOC offered prayers and placed a holy Chaddar at the Shrine. He also distributed blankets/utility items to the very needy and gifted school uniforms and sports kits to children from local schools. During the interaction with the Board Members he was appreciative of their role in upholding the culture and traditions of the Valley and assured them of the Army’s commitment towards ensuring peace and security in the region.
