5 years ago, I was helping my mom and sister set up the reception room the night before my wedding. 5 years ago, I slept through the night, without the thought of a 3/4am feeding. 5 years ago, I couldnt imagine life getting any better - I was about to marry the most amazing person Id ever met, in the most awesome resort on the most beautiful beach, and then we were going to Mexico for 2 weeks on our honeymoon. I was off for summer vacation (from teaching) and my biggest fear was that my hair/makeup wouldnt work out the next day. 5 years later, I sit in our home with our wide awake 4 month old, listening to the sleep sounds in our 2.5 year olds room. The dishes are piled in the sink, the house looks like toys r us just exploded, and I have over 100 pictures to edit. I know I wont be going to sleep for another 2 hours, and when I do, itll just be for a few hours at a stretch. Were in the thick of potty training, terrible 2s, constant feedings, and overall exhaustion. But in this moment, I couldnt be happier. I never imagined life could be so hard and so rewarding all at once, and that I could love other humans so much more than myself. Im so thankful for this life I have, and for the man that made it (and continues to make it) possible. I love you Max. I cant wait to see what the future hold for us.
