5 years ago, on September, a year after I moved to Canada with my parents and sister, my parents were getting ready to leave and move back to Israel. In one of our family meals my dad looked at Maury and said take care of my baby (ie me). Maury promised he will and he took that promise to heart. Maury along with Maxine and the kids, was the pillar of light through this life changing move for me. Every Sunday, every holiday and every Simha he had me in mind. He had nothing but love and laughter to offer his newly discovered family member. He taught me everything I know about Canada, hockey, diaspora Judaism and my own family history. I already miss sitting with him on the top of the stair case with our matching Pajama bottoms. Talking Hebrew and laughing away. He fought to give his family everything they ever needed or wanted.
