5 years ago today, I was looking in a magazine for a recipe and came upon the most cheerful, beautiful necklace. I am totally girlie, but truth be told, I was quite comfortable in my pearl earrings and even a bit terrified to try to rock bigger pieces… BUT something about that necklace caught my eye. I looked it up and found out I could earn tons of jewelry and even work flexibly from home as a stylist. I had two baby boys (2 ½ year old and 2 months old!) so badly wanted to feel pretty and have something just for me, so set out to make “a little extra” and earn as much free jewelry as possible. I could tell this was something different, classy, and so very special. I remember telling my girlfriend @bonnie that “I was just going to do it for fun, nothing serious,” oh and not to mention, I knew nothing about “sales!” Well, here I am 5 years later looking back over the CAREER that has blossomed and I’m overwhelmed with emotion! ☺ Not only have I earned “tons” of free product (thousands!) it has become SO MUCH MORE than I ever could have imagined. It has been so incredibly exciting to see what all has been possible with Stella & Dot. Some friends will remember the story about me setting a goal to pay for a complete kitchen renovation and coming home from a really great trunk show and shouting “I got our dishwasher AND microwave!!” and just watching my husbands jaw drop haha :) I have traveled with Stella & Dot to Cancun, the Bahamas, Puerto Vallarta, Vegas, Orlando, San Francisco and many other trips across the US! I have welcomed hundreds of amazing women to our team over the years and watched them grow, blossom, & thrive… but more than that, I have laughed with them, cried with them, danced (so much dancing!), and even prayed with/for them. I have realized how much I love my role as a business coach and it has been so cool to see our team grow into Canada, the UK, Germany, and Ireland! I have met new best friends at Trunk Shows and made SO many new friends and reconnected with dear old ones. Just thinking of all the PEOPLE that have come into my life (or back into my life!) and the ways that God has worked through my business honestly brings me to tears. I have conquered fears, realized my secret dreams of being an entrepreneur, learned things about myself, worked through the challenges of being a small business owner, learned what tenacity is all about it, remembered how great it feels to set big goals and work to achieve them, and experienced the sheer JOY of helping another woman succeed.... and Ive given away something like $50,000 in product to my amazing Hostess, without whom my business wouldn’t be what it is! And I’ve come to know what a privilege it is to be a working mom AND a stay at home mom. Oh, and best of all, added our third precious boy! ☺ Very early, when I was still just trying to figure out what this little adventure was all about, I DECIDED that I wanted my children to be my REASON not my excuse for working hard, and that this had the potential to fulfill some of my biggest dreams, give me the ability to have my dream job of being a MOM, and yet still have a fabulous and fulfilling career I adored.
