50 protest against construction of religious school on parking lot: KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — About 50 residents and traders gathered at the Al-Firdaus Mosque’s parking area in Kampung Segambut Luar here today, to protest against a proposed primary religious school project on the parking lot. Their representative, Ahmad Shah Jalaludin, said about 100 traders who operated on the parking lot every Saturday were against the school project which could affect their income. “If the construction of the project takes off, about 100 Malay traders will face a problem because the project will affect their income and that of the mosque which depends on rentals from the traders to finance its activities,” he told Bernama here today. Meanwhile, Segambut Residents Association representative Azizan Zainal said residents in the area also did not agree with the project as it would make it difficult for those going to the mosque to find parking for their cars. “The project will also cause traffic congestion. Furthermore, there are already four religious schools in Segambut,” he added. — Bernama dlvr.it/430zwP
