50 years ago today... 50 years ago today... Lets see. Oh, yeah, I remember it. Like a third-grader who didnt have a clue about politics--except that my parents were worried the entire time JFK was President that the Pope was about to take over the US. The biggest thing I remember about JFK was the wonderful comedy album about the Kennedys that suddenly disappeared. (Sort of like the version of Wild Thing with a Bobby Kennedy impersonator that was a terrific vote-getter--it went away in 1968.) Having gone through the Cuban Missle Crisis under my desk (duck and cover), who knew what was going on when all the teachers went berserk at the news of his death? We expected a mushroom cloud almost any moment. With parents so politically opposed to everything Kennedy seemed to stand for, our first 3rd-grade thoughts were, Good. It took a while for us children to learn what a tragedy this had been.
