After the sums were sorted and the bills paid after the club’s second annual show and shine, it was able to hand over $5010. Hospital auxiliary president Sharon Longmore said the group was incredibly appreciative of the donation. Ms Longmore said the money would be used across the hospital, but some of the big-ticket items on the wishlist includes a chair-lifter and a reclining commode chair. However, she said it wasn’t just about big-ticket infrastructure, with the money also expected to be used for diversional therapy for the hospital’s elderly residents. “It’s not just getting patients in and out of bed, but keeping their minds and bodies active,” Ms Longmore said. The show and shine is one of the major fund-raisers for the auxiliary and it is already preparing for a fete in March. “Our patients are busy crafting things to go on sale at the fete,” Ms Longmore said. Junee Motor Club publicity officer Toby Bowering said the club was chuffed with the result. See your ad here “We had great support from sponsors in Wagga, Marrar and Junee,” he said. Mr Bowering credited vice-president Xavier Hicks with gathering commercial support for the second show and shine. In addition to the supporters, cars and bikes arrived from across the Riverina to enter the competition. The $5000 donation follows on from a $3200 donation from the club’s inaugural event in 2013. “We had a bit more sponsorship, it was a little more efficient because it was the second year and great support from attendees and entrants,” Mr Bowering said. This year’s show and shine will be held at the Junee Showground on November 1.
