530 AM UPDATE: FLASH FLOOD WARNING for the Yucca Valley area through 830 AM. See details in comments below. -- Happy Monday! Since you guys liked that moisture video we posted yesterday we thought wed do it again. This time we are checking out data from the SREF model (spc.noaa.gov/exper/sref/). This video shows the 850-500mb Mixing Ratio from 8 PM last night through 5 AM WEDNESDAY. 850-500mb mixing ratio is a measure of how much moisture is in the atmosphere between roughly 5000 and 18000 above sea level and is commonly used in rain fall intensity forecasts. The warmer the color, the higher the moisture content. **This does NOT necessarily show where precipitation will fall.** SUMMARY: In the video you can see the very moist air associated with what was once Hurricane Norbert (now a post-tropical cyclone) off the coast of Baja as well as the strong plume it pushed up across the desert southwest. Moisture values will peak in most areas today before getting pushed east and rapidly dissipating tonight and Tuesday. Check out the chances of precipitation today in the comments below. Make sure you stay tuned to https://facebook/NWSVegas for the latest forecast information as we post it through the day!
