#5583 Hi, Im the one who submitted the comment, To all men: its not for you to say that radical feminism is stupid. I wanted to clarify that remark in light of the thoughtful #5571. I dont actually believe men shouldnt have opinions on feminism -- quite the opposite: I hope you do and I hope you talk with lots of other people in your life about them! But its frustrating to see an entire branch of feminist theory immediately dismissed and denigrated on this page without people seriously engaging with it and giving it full consideration -- and to see that response overwhelmingly come from men. Men have had the dominant voice on issues related to women for the vast majority of human history already, and I think that being a sensitive man entails knowing when to let women take the lead on debating feminist issues in a public forum. Thats not to say that men cant also respond, but when you have five posts in the first 5 minutes that say Thats stupid and nothing more, or that mock the OPs position, all from men, its dismissive and shuts down discussion. It also ignores the fact that many radical feminists viewed *women* as their audience, not men, so men wont usually be in a position to judge its worth (at least, if they only consider their experience without educating themselves a little more thoroughly). All I ask is that before you form an opinion on it or any other branch of feminism, read about its legacy and impact, talk to women about it, generally be a thoughtful human, etc., and if you still want to dismiss it, then make sure you have intelligent grounds for doing so. (Basically, Harry Gao is on point.) You seem really sensitive to these issues, though, so I doubt youre the problem. Cheers!
