6 die, 8 injured in Osun auto crash NO fewer that six persons, including two students of the Bells Secondary School, Ota, Ogun State, Saturday evening, died in a fatal motor accident, which occurred along Ife/Ibadan road. Nigerian Tribune reliably gathered that the accident, which involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number Ogun AP555TP occured at about 6.30 p.m. in Ikire, headquaters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State. It was learnt that the bus was transporting some students of the Bells Secondary School, Ota, who were returning from an excursion to Abuja, when the accident occurred. Eyewitness informed the Nigerian Tribune that the auto crash was as a result of rear tyre which burst when the vehicle was on motion. An officer of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) at the scene of the accident told the Nigerian Tribune that the fatality of the accident was enhanced by high speed of the driver of the bus. While the driver of the 18-seater bus survived the accident, having sustained serious injuries, the FRSC officers and officials of the Osun Ambulance Service rescued the survivors of the accident and rushed them to the General Hospital, Ikire. However, the management of Bells Secondary School, in a telephone conversation, confirmed that some students of the school went on excursion with the approval of the school authorities. An official of the school, who responded to the call put across to the school management said “we are already aware of the incident and we are making efforts to recover their corpses from the hospital.”
