6 weeks ago I received an email from an ad agency in San Francisco. They said that Intel wanted me to star in a national TV commercial for their new 2-in-1 tablet. At first I said no (too busy), but after my agent talked to them, we realized that the commercial would also prominently feature my latest story for Random House, My Pet Book -- and THAT really appealed to me. Once I committed, things took off pretty quickly; many meetings with location scouts, pre-production discussions, countless storyboards - and then a 60-person film crew descended on my little studio in Chatham, Massachusetts. The commercial just started airing Monday night while I was out of town speaking. Saw it last night, and I must say, it sure came out awfully cute (and those kids and animated characters are definitely the scene stealers).
