6000 cr plan for separate colonies of migrant KPs Brain child of Omar, not Modi led government------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rehabilitation of migrant Kashmiri Pandits in separate settlements is not the brain child of the present BJP-led central government as is generally perceived. The idea was rather mooted by the state government last year when it sent a comprehensive proposal to the union government to bring back Pandits and resettle them in isolated colonies. A notification issued by the state government on November 29 (2013), after cabinet meeting, said that the state cabinet approved a comprehensive return and rehabilitation plan for Kashmiri Pandits who have migrated from valley in 1990s after the eruption of militancy. According to the cabinet decision, Pandits, who had disposed off their properties after migration but were willing to return to the valley would be resettled and rehabilitated in segregated clusters. It was decided that the state land would be offered to Pandits for their rehabilitation,and wherever necessary land would be acquired from local residents (Muslims neighbours) for raising these clusters.
