7:14 devotional today - be refreshed and encouraged! LIVING WATER Read Ezekiel 47:1 through 48:35 Many old Western movies show parched travelers, desperate for water. Their boots shuffle in the dust, their legs give way. Finally, they see water in the distance. One cowboy runs up, cupping his hands into the watering hole, but his companion stops him short. Soon, we realize why. The camera pans the watering hole. There are no living things—not one sign of life. A skeleton or two reinforce the scene. Stagnant water brings death. By contrast, where water is flowing, life thrives. This water can quench, refresh, and sustain the thirst of a weary traveler. “Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live” (Ezekiel 47:9). Feeling fatigued? Parched? Are our souls thirsty for a drink? Or maybe you’re fine. Whatever the case, we can kneel, cup our hands in prayer, and soak up the satisfying, living water God provides.
