$7 Billion was spent on political campaigns in 2012 by donors to candidates, political parties, and outside groups. Liberals are concerned that elite business interests like the Koch Brothers and Wall Street firms are buying our elections. Conservatives are concerned that unions, Hollywood liberals, and liberal billionaires like George Soros are buying our elections. Pres. Obama raised more money than his opponents in both elections. Theres a petition for a constitutional amendment that basically says that corporations are not people and money is not speech. It would over-rule the Citizens United decision that allowed individuals and organizations to donate unlimited amounts to Political Action Committees, and give Congress the freedom to limit the amount of money donated to these groups. You can sign the petition at movetoamend.org. Theres also a simpler solution. What gives these PACs so much political power is that people actually believe the messages on political commercials on TV and radio. So when these commercials come on, dont believe anything they say. Or even better, hit the mute button. That is unless you want to hear a bunch of misleading half-truths and outright lies, much of it based on fear.
