7 Reasons Why We’re Thankful For Our Dogs #7 Dogs are Easy to Please Had a long, exhausting day and just don’t want to talk anymore? Our dogs don’t mind. A belly rub, a bowl of kibble and a bit of fresh air is all it takes to make their day, and they certainly don’t spend time judging the state of your kitchen or the coffee stain on your shirt. #6 Dogs are Up for Anything Planes, trains, automobiles and even boats, so long as you’re right alongside them, dogs are some of the easiest and most compatible travel companions. #5 Dogs Get Us Moving No matter what the weather is, our dogs have to do their business day in and day out. We’re thankful our dogs get us off our butts and to all of the parks, beaches and avenues we wouldn’t have explored without them. Not to mention the network of dog park friends we make on the cold, rainy days no one else cares to be outside. And while we’re on the subject of cold, rainy days … #4 Dogs are the Best Snugglers Whether they’re 9 or 90 pounds, all dogs crave attention and as many kisses, ear scratches and cuddles as they can get. On days when we’re feeling a little blue or just want to spend a time on the couch relaxing, our dogs curl up right beside us and make any TV or movie marathon more entertaining just by being there with their puppy hiccups or occasional big-mouthed yawn. #3 Dogs Make Us Feel Loved “Be the person your dog thinks you are,” is a great reminder for all dog owners of how special we are to them each and every day. Our dogs don’t care how many places we’ve seen or people we know and in their eyes, we’re number one all the time. It’s a tall order to always be on top but their devotion is a great reminder of our jobs to make sure we get them the best care, training and attention we can offer #2 Dogs Put Things in Perspective Let’s face it, at some point in our lives with our pets something is going to get chewed, thrown up on or otherwise ruined by our pups. The best we can do is realize that the shoes, furniture and other things they get into are just objects. We’ll never love any of them as much as our dogs and as impossible as it seems, we will get over losing them. And maybe sign up for some obedience classes. #1 Dogs Teach Us the Best Lesson of All To enjoy the simple things! Our dogs take such pleasure in every stick they come across, every dog they meet and every other ball they get to chase. They remind us that all we really need in life are the simple things to make us happy, including good friends and family, loving pets and a chance to spend time together throughout the holiday season.
