7 day challenge (day 4) Star Teachers. Teachers play an important role in our children lives and effective teachers making a lasting impression.....Thank you to every teacher, who teaches for the love of their students. 1. Jacquelyn Butler affectionately known as Miss J. I couldnt wait for the 1988 presidential election so I could exercise my right to vote. Your teachings and love for law and government was one of the reasons I got a degree in criminal justice. You were more than just a teacher. You mentored many of us along with Miss G and you instilled some excellent values in us along with our parents. I know you had my family on speed dial. Thank you for inspiring me and for sharing Law and Government with me. I some day hope to be able to reach a few students in the class room before I leave this place called earth. 2. Kathy Starrenburg. Wow my quirky English teacher. I remember when you came to replace Mrs. Thompson my freshman year. I remember your Victorian style dresses T-strap shoes and zeal for life. I was an already an avid reader, but you directed my interest towards the classic. I remember reading Jane Eyre and Little Woman for the first time. I never expressed it, but I loved those books. You also inspired me to learn about the Renaissance and American History. I am an avid reader to date and I love to read books that allow me to learn something new. I still remember you always sharing stories about your husband. 3. Melanie Parham, was my 6th grade teacher at Hawthorne Christian School. She wore a hard press hairstyle with lots of grease and ruby red lipstick. She was one of the hardest old fashioned teachers I had ever encountered, but she left a mark on my life. She taught me a song that I sang at my churches youth week. I remember the lyrics; Im determined to walk with Jesus, yes I am. Through hard trials, tribulations persecutions Im determined. Im determined to walk with Jesus, yes I am. I often wonder what ever happened to Mrs. Parham. I dont know, but I still remember that glass ruler she use to swat us with when we were late from recess. The song she taught me, somehow became my theme song without me knowing it. Thank you Mrs. Parham for being one of many guardian angels God placed in my life.
