7th May 2014 Armed Robbery - Paeroa Eastern Waikato Police are seeking the publics help in identifying and locating two men wanted in relation to the weekend aggravated robbery of a Paeroa service station. Detective Simon Everson of the Waihi CIB said Police were called after two men, one armed with a long barrelled firearm, entered the Paeroa Caltex service station about 10pm on Saturday and threatened the two staff members inside. While the armed offender kept the staff members at bay his accomplice loaded cash and cigarettes into what was described as a green and brown patterned pillowslip before he ran from the store. The armed offender continued to demand more cigarettes be put in a plastic bag before he to fled the scene. Mr Everson said the pair were last seen running separately along Taylors Ave, heading towards Brennan St. Both were described as Maori or Polynesian males about 188cm tall. The gunman was described as wearing dark clothing including a dark hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, distinctive long blue pants with a silver reflective band running around both legs just below the knees. He also wore gloves and had a red bandana over his face. Mr Everson said the second offender was wearing similar dark coloured clothing with the hood of his sweatshirt pulled up and a white mask or balaclava over his face. Patrons of the local rugby club described two similar dressed men seen acting suspiciously at the intersection of Towers and Seymour Streets earlier in the evening. These men were described as driving a dark coloured car similar to an early 1990s Ford Telstar or Mazda 626 hatchback or station wagon which was described as having 4 spoke mag-wheels. Police want to speak to anyone who may have seen the offenders in the vehicle checking out the area prior to the robbery or who may have seen either man running to or from the service station.
