7th.Nov - 60th birthday of a living legend for has so far spent 50 years of that life dedicated to Tamil Movie Industry.Kamal Haasan, one of the finest actors of his time with a repertoire of films that remain unrivaled. He is one actor who is an all rounder just like our own P.Ramlee. He can act(hero,villain,comedienne,father,old man,dwarf,mute, simpleton,etc.etc),dance,sing, direct,compose, write and produce movies. Just like Sivaji Ganesan and P.Ramlee, this man has played a great influence in my life.Through Valvei Mayam and Monduram Pirai, I started falling in love in his movies. I still remember how a Malay colleague in my Income Tax Dept hailed his acting in Mondram Pirai. Next came Salangei Oli..wow what great classical bharatha natyam dancing it was - especially for the song Nada Vinthongal with Jaya Pradha. Though he is an atheist in real life, through, his films like Guna, Alavanthan, Anbe Sivam and Mahanadi, I appreciated spirituality and humanitarian values. He has played a dwarf in Apporva Sagothargal( this is the movie that brought back people to cinemas after an era of video cassette craze. What a movie it was. One of his movie Nayagan which is listed in Life Magazine Top 100 world best movies. He acts, nay he lives in his acting. Devar Maghan with the late legend Sivaji Ganesan is another classic movie. Comedies like Sathi lelavathi, Avai Shanmugai, Panchatantram, Vasoola Raja MBBS, Thenali and Pamal K. Sambathan were simply brilliant. How can we forget the vigilante old man who went on killing spree of bribe taking government servants - for a time even in real life there was a fear of Indian Tata amongst the government servants or the freedom fighter who wanted to assinate Ghandi in Hey Ram. In the movie DASAVATHARAM he played muti-roles.DASA means ten and AVATHARAM means Roles. Ten different roles by the same actor - what a feat it was. Here I sharing a song from the movie where all the characters he played will come on stage including George Bush.
