[8.45pm update] PRASARANA’S MEDIA STATEMENT ON THE INCIDENT AT KAMPUNG KUALA SUNGAI BARU DEPOT OF THE AMG LRT LINE EXTENSION PROJECT (8:45 PM UPDATE) Kuala Lumpur, 24 December 2014 – Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) wishes to provide an update on the incident that has occurred at the worksite of the Ampang (AMG) LRT Extension Project Depot at Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru. The incident occurred at 4:20 pm when the formwork and scaffolding which was 8 metres in height gave way during the concreting of the deck slab. The scaffolding was designed by a professional engineer and certified safe by a certified scaffolding inspector. The cause of the incident is still being investigated. Prasarana’s Group Director of Project Development Division, Dato’ Ir. Zohari Sulaiman who is at the site expresses his regret over the incident. Efforts are currently underway to rescue the workers who are unaccounted for, comprising two Bangladeshi and one Indonesian. One has been accounted for and found safe. The Emergency Response Team, including the Police and the Fire & Rescue Services are at the site to assist in the rescue efforts. Further information will be shared once we have more details. Ends
