Next Previous Next Ford chief on Microsoft’s short list Alan R Mulally, the former Boeing executive who has led a dramatic turnaround at Ford Motor, has been short-listed to succeed Steve Ballmer as chief executive of Microsoft, Reuters reports. Mulally has committed to staying at Ford through 2014, and speculation has coalesced around Mark Shields, currently the automaker’s chief operating officer, as his likely successor. Joining Mulally on Microsoft’s short list is former Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, former Skype CEO Tony Bates and Microsoft cloud and enterprise leader Satya Nadella, according to Reuters’ sources.
