80th birthday of the American stage and screen actor and singer Richard Chamberlain, born in Beverly Hills, California on 31st March 1934. He became a teen idol in the title role of the television show “Dr. Kildare” (1961–1966). Since then, he has appeared in several mini-series such as “Shōgun” (1980) and “The Thorn Birds” (1983), many successful films, performed classical stage roles and worked in the musical theatre. His filmography includes also: “Twilight of Honor” (1963), “Petulia” (1968), “The Madwoman of Chaillot” (1969), “Julius Caesar” (1970), “The Music Lovers” (1970), “The Three Musketeers” (1973), “The Towering Inferno” (1974), “The Slipper and the Rose” (1976) and “The Man in the Iron Mask” (1977). Chamberlain’s handsomeness made him one of most popular Hollywood’s heartthrobs.
