86 Coolspring Street Uniontown, Pennsylvania:The Monday before Thanksgiving in 1956 I believe. My parents were struggling, they were both Laid off from their jobs. The whole coal mining community was struggling as well. That particular day my mother needed to pick up her unemployment check which she took to the bank and cashed. My father did not get a unemployment check since he was also a full time college student. So coming out of the bank a young man snatched he purse with all the money we had. It happened to be that we were invited out that evening for dinner at some friends of my parents. When we cane home to our surprise our back porch was covered with all sorts of food. It seems that when the neighborhood heard what happened even with their own difficulty got together. This is what I am thankful for. That a young man stole everything we had to show to us the American spirit and generosity. God Bless America.
