8th CEC Ice-Hockey Tourney commences Skara Sporting Club registers 4-0 win over Ex-Servicemen team in inaugural tie Excelsior Sports Correspondent LEH, Jan 12: Skara Sporting Club registered 4-0 goals win over Ex-Servicemen team in the inaugural tie and qualified for the next stage of the 8th CEC Ice-Hockey Tournament, which commenced today at Karzoo ice-hockey rink. However, in the second match of the day, ITBP smashed DHC by straight two goals to nil and sailed into the next round of the tournament. The tournament is being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with Ladakh Winter Sports Club commenced today at Karzoo ice-hockey rink. Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Executive Councillor (EC), Youth Services and Sports, Gurmet Dorjey. In his address, EC said that these kinds of activities being organized by Ladakh Winter Sports Club and Department of Youth Services and Sports will surely promote winter games in Ladakh and produce many international players from the lot. He urged the participating players to maintain discipline during the tournament. Dorjey said that though there are good number of young players in Ladakh but lack of proper equipments and gears deprive them from participating in this winter game. He requested both the organising groups to make ways to get required equipments for the deserving youths too. Incharge District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Tsering Tashi presented the brief summary of this tournament. He said that 9 teams will play in the week-long championship.
