9-11 was a variant of Bojinka, carried out by the same guys who plotted to kill Pope John Paul II in Manila in January 95. Bojinka and the assassination plot were foiled but 9-11 succeeded 6 years later. We must prepare thoroughly for the visit of Pope Francis in January 15, and prevent any attempt that may be mounted by extremists to assassinate him. With our long trail of negligence and unpreparedness, I worry.
