9/11 was, hopefully, the greatest tragedy my life will ever see and Ive been thinking all day about this 13th anniversary. Ive been trying to find the appropriate words to express here. I cant. I wont. I never will. I know I will never forget that day, those images, those feelings. I know I will be 85 and still be brought to tears remembering that day. 9/11 is more than the instances of that day. The cause and effect, yes. But what I will always carry in my heart is the feeling of unity afterwards. The comfort of strangers. The hugs from strangers. My fears and heartache mirrored in those Id never met but found some type of comfort from. That day was the smallest Ive ever felt in my life and it was the unity of our friends, neighbors, strangers and even enemies that made me the proudest Ive ever been to be an American.
