9-12-13. HAIR ANALYSIS FOR SARIN GAS ? Gentlemen: ...are there any scientists that will comment on the following to confirm or deny my opinion. I really hope so. I wonder to date why this has not been a head line : One of the Proofs of sarin gas attacks in Syria has been reported as the presence of its chemical make up in Hair Analysis performed on hair samples taken from "victims" . Hair analysis is an established technique used to assess the individuals absorption of nutrients or other chemical elements such as lead and mercury . The proper technique for collecting samples for this analysis is to take cuttings close to the scalp from several areas of the head. This has to be cuttings of only clean hair to be accurate. The hair is bagged, labelled and sent to a lab equipped with spectral analysis and technicians familiar with proper specimen preparation. These very controlled procedures are absolutely essential to get accurate measurements of the chemical content of the hair specimen. So....lets assume that all of this is done on the scene and under the circumstances shown and reported. What are we to learn ? Well, we can learn a lot about the nutritional status of that individual. We can learn if they have been exposed to toxic chemicals and in what amounts ...OVER A PERIOD OF TIME ! The tests reveal absorption of substances only as fast as the hair grows! It is NOT a test for ANY KIND of acute, short term exposure.....such as GASSING! The test is totally worthless for measuring acute exposure ! Why has the press not revealed such obvious misinformation to the public? Why would our president use a faulty test to try to prove poison gas was the cause of death in these individuals? At the beginning of this short paragraph, I asked for opinions from any scientists reading this. I anxiously await there opinions. If I am wrong here, please explain where my training is faulty. If I am right, why do you think this misinformation has not been reported.
