PHILADELPHIA—Catherine Noack (Bethlehem/Liberty) scored a team-high 15 points to lead six players in double figures as Bloomsburg University womens basketball team opened its 2013-14 season with a 97-57 win over Chestnut Hill College. The win was also the 100th in the Huskies coaching career of head coach Bill Cleary. In his sixth year at Bloomsburg, Cleary is now 100-45 for the Huskies. Bloomsburg wasted little time grabbing control of the game jumping out to a 9-0 lead in the first two and a half minutes of action. Adreana Sadowski (Fleetwood/Brandywine Heights) got things going scoring just six seconds into the game followed by a three-pointer from Noack with Sadowski and Jocelyn Ford (Elmira Lady Express/Lansing) hitting back-to-back buckets for the 9-0 lead. The Griffins would battle back and close to within three points, 28-25, on a jumper with 5:48 to play in the half. Bloomsburg, though, would close out the period with a 12-5 run to lead 41-30 at the break. Briana Dudeck got the rally going for Bloomsburg with a jumper followed by a three-pointer from Lauren Nealon (Ambler/Archbishop Wood). Dudeck and Nealon would each follow with jumpers before Erica Maciejewski (Red Lion/Red Lion) would close out the half with four free throws putting the Huskies in control. Bloomsburg came out the locker room to start the second half on fire and put the game out of reach. Using a 10-0 run over the first two minutes of play the Huskies extended their lead to 21 points. Morgan Klunk (Felton/York Catholic) got things going with a three-point play on the first possession of the half followed by a layup from Sadowski to make it 46-30. Off a missed shot by Chestnut Hill, Noack converted a three-point play with Sadowski finishing the run with another layup making it a 51-30 lead with 18:00 to play. From there the lead went under 20 points just one time the rest of the game and ballooned to as many as 41 points on a late three-pointer from Nikki Tamanosky (Camp Hill/Cumberland Valley) with 1:43 to play. In all 11 of the Huskies 13 players scored at least one point in the game with Bloomsburg also converting 22 of 23 from foul line for the game.
