9/24/13: Lightning just now struck outside the house. There are a few clouds around, no rain, no storm that I’m aware of, and yet, there it was! Lightning. That close. I just about jumped out of my own skin. Was it frightening? Naturally! Is it a stretch to think maybe God is showing me the direction he wants me to go? Probably, but the timing is right. Let me explain… … Today, my restless mind is attempting to take a rest. It was fun and enlightening (at least to me) to go through Proverbs, Psalm 119 and Romans. Our Pastor said some things on Sunday that made me curious. Dates, days and times are important in the Bible. Pastor was talking more about the feast days, but mentioned something in Haggai. I’ve just finished the book of Haggai and started into Zechariah. Haggai mentions specific dates, starting with the 24th day of the 7th month in the second year of the reign of King Darius. God spoke to Haggai that day concerning the rebuilding of the Temple. On the 24th day of the 9th month, God showed him how much better off the people were since they started rebuilding in earnest. …. In that same year, in the 8th month, God spoke to Zechariah, instructing him to tell the people to come back to God. On the 24th day of the 11th month, God said he’d return to Jerusalem with compassion, that his temple will be rebuilt and that cities will prosper again. Since we’re given those specific dates, they must be important. However, remembering dates is not one of my strengths. Without an online reminder, I’d forget my own kids’ birthdays. God may lead me there someday just to challenge me. …. Pastor also talked about fear. How many times is “fear not”, or something along those lines, mentioned in the Bible? Some say it’s 365 times, or one per day (except for leap years – which weren’t a part of the Jewish calendar anyway). I haven’t found that many, but, in light of the trials many of my friends are going through, I could write my thoughts on the ones I did find. …. The lightning struck a little fear into my heart. Is God leading me to find all the times he says not to fear? I’ll start on that journey, and see where God takes us. Stay tuned…
