9-4-13 Attendees: Ali, Anthony, Cici, Greg, Jason, Kriz, Louis, Marla, Micha Ela, Nate, Nick, Stan, Steve, Susie, & Thai Facilitator: Nick Meeting commenced: 7:56 Announcements: Anthony reached out to Amanda Carroll who is organizing the St. Pete march and she is trying to get the permit at this time. She has created some flyers and will send them over to me so I can change them up for Tampa. I told her that we’re here to help her group and get the word out and provide assistance as needed. Louis received an email from Lisa G. Lambiano that states: Hey Louis, I saw that you are a member of the March Against Monsanto Page and thought you might like this: facebook/therefusers And here is their song against Monsanto: reverbnation/therefusers/song/17802062-lets-roundup-monsanto They are a health freedom rock band currently with a platform against Monsanto. The lead singer, Michael Belkin directly suffered from this and I know they could use the support. Sorry if I bothered you but we are trying to raise awareness and grow their fan base! Have a great day and sorry if you are already fan or anything of the sort. Not trying to spam just reach out! Lisa Stan: Brought in the paper mache mask to show the type of chicken wire. We need to buy some for Saturday. Stan has the paint. Ali has newspaper and will bring it. Nate: Has two big printers but needs toner. Nate to provide the toner number. Kriz: We’re doing the Bee Against Monsanto. Nick: Kriz designed a Bee Against Monsanto page and we’re going to put them up around town and get the word out to spread awareness about the bees dying. We all need to focus and spread the bee propaganda. DARPA and other government agencies are trying to release their drone bees. This also impacts the Monarch butterflies too. Monsanto has it’s own Neonicotinoid and they’re connected with Bayer. Read additional information here: theguardian/environment/georgemonbiot/2013/aug/05/neonicotinoids-ddt-pesticides-nature Steve: Do we have a list of the local beekeepers in the area? Nick: We need to find out when Jonathon is getting back so we can find out what the deal is with the march. DO WE ABSOLUTELY HAVE THE PERMIT? Greg: When he was down in Naples, they’re trying to put a fracking drill in Naples, 1000 yards from Karen Dwyer’s back yard. naplesnews/photos/galleries/2013/jun/23/update-oil-drilling—jun-23-2013/277242/ Steve: Has anyone attacked it at the county commissioner level? Ali: We need to make a push towards blockading. Greg will post additional information tonight on the MAM page. Ali: If we do an action around the fracking and info around Naples, we would get their support. Greg: 3 news channels were there. Susie: After the workshop on Saturday (Stan’s Paper Mache), we should go to the Syria demonstration at 6. Dale Mabry and Gandy. https://facebook/events/163062233888875/ Nick: He is passionate about all other issues brought up but this is the March Against Monsanto meeting. We need to stay on topic. (Group agrees) Nate: Thinking about all the shit we have to do before the march. Christine is on point that we should be hitting the Tuesday Roosevelt Market and Saturday Ybor Market at Centennial Park. We have some flyers left but we need to table and flyer. Anthony to work on revamping the flyer to add additional info about the march and more details. Anthony to provide funds for printing and Nate to get printed. If anyone wants to donate as well please reach out. Whether it’s money for printing or time to flyer, we all have our areas. Street theater for the march. Posting bees before and then spraying bees after, etc. Nate talked to Jess about Food Not Bombs being there. Does anyone want to be involved with it? Cooking food, serving food, Tuesday at 8 AM at Lykes Gaslight Square Park and Saturday’s at Farrell Park at 12 PM. https://facebook/pages/Tampa-Food-Not-Bombs/236262856416700 Marla: First time coming to the meeting. Brought in by Louis. She has a company “Fairy Godmother Resources Inc.” fairygodmotherresources which is a 501c3 non-profit organization. She is available to help us out and has resources for web development and structuring a 501c non-profit as well (Pro-bono). She found a local beekeeper today. Nick: He got to speak for a half hour about the MAM meetings at the Green Mingle and they all want to network. It’s the last Friday of every month. They serve food. Roosevelt 2.0 (https://facebook/theRoosevelt2.0) Stan: When we make our heads, we will have extra, we can turn that into bees, and he has pipe cleaner that he can use for legs and antennas. Jason: Does anyone have land? Is there a Permaculture area around here? Nick/Nate: There are some areas around but we need to find more resources. Jason just got back from a place called East Wind in the Ozarks (eastwind.org). They’re growing their own food and houses and being self sufficient. Micha Ela: About the vendors, we need to approach them right away. She contacted Al Rossa, we need to get a vendor package together so we can let them know what to do and what to bring. She is going to be gone for a little while in Germany but Al showing up as a vendor depends on us getting in touch with him with more information. All vendors attending is contingent upon the permit and then we can move forward. Have the vendors or markets to promote the march as well. We should already be going there to shop and get close to them anyway to support. The issue with them attending as a vendor to the march is that they’re going to lose a day of business by doing so, so we want to make it worth their time and help out as much as we can. Why can’t they be an extension of our media? Chucks has a documentary viewing room and Kriz has a friend with a VW van that he may be turning into a BeeW. Susie: As an alternative, if it’s too late to set up vendors, we can always ask them to give out stuff for free, but also say we’ll advertise for them if they have material. We can promote for them. Marla: For example, 5 hour energy has 2 girls in an office that’ll come out to events and hand drinks out. Something similar. Ali: If the permit is going to allow us to have access to the street, we could make it float related and her stepmom who was in charge of events may be able to help and has been doing it for years. Kriz: Will we have an info stand? How about creating a photo cutout board so that people can put their face in and take pictures? Etc. Let’s make it a fun!!! Steve: Speaking of vendors, he’s quite sure that on 6 weeks notice, we can get people at Sweetwater involved. It doesn’t end at the march. Nathan: We could write out a statement, “This vendor does not agree with Monsanto’s policy etc, and have them sign it and get it posted” Ali: We can see how Monsanto affects them directly or indirectly. Honey Pilsner beer, if there are no bees then it affects their business. Event Plan: Street theater, band, networking, public speaking, march, vendors, PARTY! Nate: Can the band that Louis has do acoustic instead of electric to make sure we meet sound laws? Nate: ALL CALL FOR INSTRUMENTS AND NOISE MAKERS! Bring those drums and let’s bring attention! Stan: He’s going to get supplies on Friday afternoon but he needs others to help. Primarily with the wire. Ali: Suggest that we go through a mental walkthrough of the march so we can foresee what we need already. We will need water, info table, Susie has 15 gallons of water that she can bring and ice bags, group to book a walkthrough. Also, some people may not want to walk 3 miles for the march so we should plan 2 routes, one that is long but one that will allow people midway to cut across and end the march sooner. We will have a group leader take them back to the rally point at that time. Otherwise you can continue to march!!! Nick, Nate, Stan, and Thai to walk the route Friday afternoon at 5:30. If anyone wants to do bee stuff let Kriz know. Ali: Have we thought about a Marshall class? Kriz: We need people to get large pieces of cardboard (4-5 feet). Group to reach out to Sharleen to see about guerilla marketing. Get photos and sneak peeks of what’s going on, we can get other groups involved. Meeting adjourned: 9:36 Thanks!!! Let’s keep this positive and attention driven motivation going! ALL HANDS ON DECK! Leave a Reply Login with Social ID Your email address will not be published. Required fields are marked *
