9.4.13 Inspiration The Burden Lifting Power of Prayer is Learning How to Cast Have you ever wondered why so many Christians are finding it difficult to experience the peace and joy that Christ secured for us when He died on the Cross, rose on the third day and ascended back to the Father in Heaven. As I pondered the mental unrest of many of my friends, family and associates, I was reminded of Christ’s command for us to cast all of our cares on Him, for He cares for us. My mind went back to a time when I was burdened down by a series of events which were out of my control. I recall praying that God would take the heavy load off of me. I fasted. I prayed. I worshipped God. I read my Bible without fail. Still the weight of the trial pressed me down to the place of weariness. I knew God heard my prayers. I knew that praising and worshipping God would charge my spirit to hear from God; and I also knew that my answer was wrapped up in the Word of God. So I set my face daily to do all that I knew to do to position myself to get some relief from the burden. And then, one Sunday as I was in the midst of the Congregation worshipping God, I had a vision of myself standing with a huge log - trunk of a massive tree, across my shoulders. I heard the Lord say, “cast it onto me”. I stood there amazed at the size of this log. Although it was not visible to my natural eyes, I could feel its weight upon my life. I couldn’t think clearly, I couldn’t sleep, nor could I move forward with the things I knew I needed to do. I was even more amazed at the fact that I was standing upright with such a humongous weight on my shoulders. As I refocused my attention from the size of the weight to the words of the Lord, I said to the Lord, “Lord I am too weak to lift this heavy weight”. Then I heard Him say, “Cast it onto Me”. Immediately I began crying and confessing, “God I give it to You. This is too much for me. Fix it God. I humble myself in your presence. I know that in due season you will work out all things for my good. This load is too much for me and I willingly give it to you. Here it is Lord, please take it. I cast it off of me onto You. I will not fret about this problem anymore. I will rejoice in the fact that you’ve got it and in your own time, I will see a manifestation of the things that I desire”. In that moment of worship and release, I turned my plea into praise. It was in that moment, in the twinkling of an eye, that God taught me … that the burden lifting power of prayer is learning how to cast. So today, I want to encourage you to give every care over to God and rejoice in knowing that God will work out all things for your good. As we humble ourselves in the sight of the Most High God and cast all of our cares on Him, remember that He will deliver us for He cares for us. “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you”.
