9 Amazing But Unheard #Technologies Let’s think beyond driverless cars, flying internet balloons and Google Glass; let’s travel to a world of technology which offers limitless possibilities. How about a micro robot passing through your blood stream to destroy cancerous cells, or a nanofiber maze that can very well filter sea water for drinking purpose? 9. A brain-to-brain interface for communication and control Here’s a nuero-sensitive headset which you can use to communicate with each other. And, it certainly does more than that! Well, it can control motor muscles. Devised by a team at Harvard it even works for animals! 8. A substance called d-methionine to prevent noise-induced hearing loss Pharmacologists have found a comical dubbed as d-methionine that can prevent noise-induced hearing loss which commonly happens in urban construction workers. So, now you can expect pills to shield your ears from the acoustic ordeal of a jackhammer. 7. Graphene supercapacitors could lead to the electric car of your dreams How about getting hold of an electric car that could run couple of hundred miles and get fully charged in just one minute? Well, that will be possible using Graphene super capacitors, which can hold as much power as a battery, but can get charged quite quickly. 6. Femto photography will let you take pictures of objects around the corner from you Think of a camera that allows you to capture images at a slow motion of each frame for just two trillionths of a second. This was demonstrated recently in TED Talk by femto photography specialist and the method was found to be so effective it can record photons in motion. 5. Solar cell paint can turn all kinds of things into a power source We know that from cell phones to fluorescent lamps, everything needs energy. The research team at Notre Dame has come up with paint that turns a surface into a solar cell, which is a step closer to the dream of fulfilling infinite energy. Its yet to be realized, but a breakthrough is likely to happen anytime soon. 4. Memristors will drastically change the world of electrical engineering Think of a new technology called memristors, which is a new electric circuit component that derives its name from ‘memory’ and ‘resistor’. Hewlett-Packard is already working in this direction and ask HP Labs Fellow R. Stanley Williams who says, The memristor holds its memory longer. It’s simpler. It’s easier to make — which means it’s cheaper — and it can be switched a lot faster, with less energy.” 3. Nanofiber salt filters could be used to harvest ocean water for drinking With 71 per cent of earth being water, out of which 97.5 per cent is confined within the oceans, and with only 2.5 percent being freshwater, the world is surely desperate for clean drinking water. Think of a new technology known as Nanofiber, in which a fibrous material which is extremely thin, can act as a salt filter as individual grains of salt are too big to traverse the holes in the nanofiber, which convert the salty water into drinking water. 2. A cancer-killing computer chip could live in a patients bloodstream Here’s a microfluidic chip, enclosed in long strands of DNA and programmed to identify the cancerous cells. And, if you need to launch an attack on cancerous cells, you can put more microfluidic chips into blood stream. 1. You can store data in DNA The scientists have succeeded in coding DNA in an audio clip of Martin Luther King Jr.s. Not only this, they could also retrieve them with 99.99 per cent precision. Keep silicon chips aside, who knows the next revolution of data storage can be in the form of bio chips. Follow us on G+ https://plus.google/b/107617210519141956150/107617210519141956150/posts
