90 MINUTES AWAY FROM AFCON; GEJ AND KESHI NIGERIA LTD Nigeria 2:2 South Africa Sudan 0:1 DRC Congo Here is the punch line; the Super Eagles (I prefer to refer to them as Super Quails based on the invention of my brother and friend, Adeyemi Sodeinde) will not - as defending champions of the AFCON title - participate in next years edition of the tournament when Equatorial Gunniea flag things off in far away Malabo. For the wondering minds, permit me to tell you the obvious; it did not start now! It dates back to when the Super Quails won the 2013 edition of the Nations Cup on sheer motherluck - the fact that has hitherto been refuted by my bossom and best friend, Oseni Temi - and the NFF and the nation at large, especially, the hallelujah boiz of Mr. Stephen Okechukwu Keshi failed to come to terms with the fact that Keshi a.k.a. The Clueless One lacks the well withal to lead a team that has the kind of ambition expected of the Super Quails by the over 170 million populace of the giANT of Africa. And just when some of us thought they (the decision makers) will activate the thinking faculty they have in them, the tactless showing at the mundial in the heat of Brazil failed to convince the top echelons in the Glass House that the big boss is not just the right pick for the ever volatile Nigerian job. I mean, Stephen Keshi had hanged his palmy tapper boots before Didier Deschamp lifted the World Cup trophy in 1998 and the later showed the former how to change games from the dugout by eliminating the Quails in the round of 16. #shame! Thence came the sensitive Amaju Pinnick NFF, who deemed it fit to show the arrogant one the way out, only for our busy body president to reign in with his trademark power from above by prevailing on the reinstatement of the football version of the clueless one to lead the nation to soccer oblivion! I have always been an ardent campaigner of #KeshiOut for the right reason. The guys is not only tactless, his arrogance cum ITK beggars common sense! His sack before reinstatement was vehemently celebrated as though yours sincerely won lotto Nigeria in my slaughter slab... #HoodiezLingua. In my private conversation with Fayoyiwa Babajide Samson, we both agreed to lay low and earnestly wait for this day to come. And here it is! #GratefulUs As though the mathematical permutations and combinations this lacklustre Quails have subjected the football enthusiasts to is not enough, this Son of Man was subjected to the meanest of accosting earlier today when a destitute-looking decrepit pendulum possessing creature tagged me demented man *in his Ijaw parlance* when I in my pundit mind predicted a draw for the Super Quails at best. I gave him ONE answer, #Silence! Fast-forward nine hours later, the demented me finally had the last laugh as the Super Quails - as is their usual practice - threw the whole sh*t on the faces of their ardent disciples. This is a record breaking low in the history of Nigerian football and heads must roll, starting from the C-in-C of the armed forces, FRN, Dr. Jonathan, whose meddlesomeness knows bounds when he stooped down so low to interfere - a friend christened it interference though - in the affairs of football of this nation, a field he knows little or nothing about! Or, maybe he should have contested for the NFF president if he knows that much about football! And for what it is worth, Keshi MUST resign his appointment ASAP and pave way for a competent handler. Enough of all this nationalistic chauvinism! Jose Pekerman is an Argentine, but he tutors the Columbian national team and they are doing fine. Plenty examples abound for our perusal. If indigenous coaches cannot perform, they should be ditched, since they do not work for free! Players like John Mikel Obi and the para footballers after his order should be thrown out of the national team set up! It is high time Nigerians (Chelsea fans or not) come to terms with the fact that J.O. Mikel has wasted his talents. The bright prospect he was in 2005 is not what we are seeing a decade after, when his rival back then - Lionel Messi - has undeniably gone heavens ahead of the snail one within the same period of time! #GoodRiddanceToBadRubish On a final note, I would enjoin FIFA to quit this their usual act of extending deadlines whenever Nigeria fall foul of their recommendations. This country would definitely benefit from, say TWO years out of mainstream soccer participation so we can put our house in order. Enough of all the twerpy consideration for the giant that has thus far refused to evolve from the amphibian phase of life! HighBishop Gcon
