94 Days Clean. I visited my son in jail today and knew ahead - TopicsExpress

94 Days Clean. I visited my son in jail today and knew ahead of time he was struggling. Up till now he has been quite positive, doing his bit as he would say. However, the system being as it is has not moved very swiftly on his behalf. He was sentenced 3-12 months with a stipulation that if he put 1,000 dollars toward his restitution he can get out. So he was put in work release to have to opportunity to do so. No word yet as to his status to be approved to go out and work to pay off this debt. So he has been down. However, I see it as a great blessing that God has seen fit to not hasten this process. I told him that instead of feeling sorry, use this time to grow. Now he has spent most of his spare time in jail playing cards, watching tv, playing basketball and working out. Passing time, staying positive, but nothing to put in his bank account of self esteem and recovery for when he leaves. He has been complacent about meetings in jail. To his defense his sponsor has not been available and he has not been working his steps. So, the point of all of this.? His complacency could kill him. He is forgetting the gravity of his addiction and taking no action toward recovery. He is simply getting by. He complained his sponsor not available and I suggested, So what? Start a Big Book study with your jail mates. Once a week read the book out loud and talk about it. He said that he works out every night. My response, Choices.Make your choices. Who cares how big you are if you are dead. He looked at me straight in the eye and nodded yes.: I am praying he thinks about this tonight.. Jimmys Mom
