97 - 97 is the Rank of the small African coutnry Benin as of the latest FIFA rankings update (february 2014 next one is in 6 days). They leap frogged over a few teams along with Zimbabwe who came in at rank 100 making 27 African teams inside the FIFA top 100. The CAF qualifying group is one of the fastest growing groups. The 5 teams representing them this year in the world cup will be the same teams that represented them 4 years ago (Ghana, Algeria, Nigeria, Ivoery Coast, Cameroon), but these teams were pushed to the limit in qualifying by several teams featuring very young talent. Most notably is Burkina Faso who took Algeria to overtime in the match that decided who would go on to the world cup, and making it to the finals of the African Nations Cup earlier this year. Only Algerias experience, and a little bit of luck in a game where neither side wanted to risk much with the prize of a world cup appearance up for grabs saw them come out on top.
